For the past decade, I’ve been recording, producing, co‑writing, and playing guitar for Faceless Mirror and, more recently, Swamp Parrots. After years of building music for other projects, I finally felt the pull to create something of my own. This solo work began on 22/07/26, when I started writing from scratch with a “back‑to‑basics” mindset. Someone Like You and Five to One came fast — written and recorded almost in real time, with vocal takes laid down as the lyrics were still forming. I also revisited a few ideas from more than 20 years ago, giving them a fresh life through new recordings. I keep this project intentionally raw and honest. When my brain says “I’m done,” I release it — no endless tweaking, no perfection chasing. The only exception was a guitar note in Cleanup at Ground Zero that sounded uncannily like my cat meowing. After trying (and failing) to fix that one note, I grabbed my Strat, improvised a new ending, and moved on. That’s the spirit of this whole project: instinct first, overthinking last.
