I want to be honest with you. At this point, the band Mackenzie is kind of done… But it has a few last fighting words to share with the world, before it finally lays down and rests in peace. Mackenzie was born in 2015 as the band-baby of Adelaide singer-songwriter Emily Bettison. She was joined by Luke O’Dwyer and two others to create fun piano-driven indie pop with big vocals and catchy melodies. Together, they released a debut EP; won some band comps; won some money; played live on some big exciting stages; and had a great time. Then life happened. People left the band. Other’s joined. New songs were written. Recorded. Re-written. Re-recorded. Then put on the back burner whilst other bits of life boiled over. Then Emily was all “Must. Finish.
