Mad Dash & the Hyphenators are a group of musicians from the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne who have studied music together since Year 7. They began performing as a group at nursing homes as a part of their school’s volunteer program in the early months of 2008. They soon realized that no matter how appreciative, their audience was never going to get up and dance so they expanded to playing gigs at festivals and Battle of the Bands in the eastern suburbs. As the band members come from a wide range of musical backgrounds, their music is sure to be different; sometimes funky and sometimes soulful. Reggae, Funk, Progressive, Ska plus heavier genres have had a massive influence on them. In all their songs you will hear band members improvising; this ensures that each gig is unique.
