MAIKSHIFT RED is a dance/electro/pop 'bedroom' project with cut-up vocals atop musical influences from 20 years of electro, synth pop, techno, house trance. Originally inspired by The Presets, my music has evolved and its now time to share. At 15, I played drums in a punk band, but my first love has always been electronic music, especially dance music. From the cheesy synth utopia of Italo/Space Disco, the bangin beats and bass-lines of techno, trance and house, I love it all. I began making EDM with school friends in the 90's. I've always wanted to write songs with vocals but the lack of a permanent vocalist made that difficult. In 1997, as 'Postmancini', we won Perth Unearthed. 'The Lumpy Mattress Ride' was re-recorded by Triple J's Leah Baker but never made onto the album due to with sample clearance issues. In 2008 I wrote the score to the indipendant film 'By Any Other Name' which combined orchestral, contempary songs and electronic music. Exhausted, I took a break from music.
