I started singing about six years ago, beginning my music studies at Box Hill Tafe, after two years there, I moved on to Monash University to undertake the Bachelor of Music Jazz/Contemporary course. Since then, I've been a part of several projects including Melbourne band, Alora. This new work is inspired by big events in my life. I'd never really written much music before, but suddenly a creative period pushed me to write an album while I was visiting my family in the US. These songs were all written in Spokane, and recorded with my brother Alec Sloman. These versions are demo versions of the songs which will be recorded by my new quartet in March. 'A Simple Sentiment' is an album which expresses my reaction to the challenges life can put in front of us. Writing this album has helped me cope with some traumatic events, and hopefully people will hear the emotion I've put forth and appreciate the honesty in these songs.
