Melbourne/Naarm band Malibu Spacey makes music that’s big on acoustic guitars, intricate lead lines and guitarmonies (that’s guitar harmonies), three- and four-part vocal harmonies, and catchy bass grooves. The sound takes pieces of 60s and 70s rock and folk, classic pop and dreamy psych. File Malibu Spacey somewhere between contemporary rockers like the Lemon Twigs and MJ Lenderman, and the poppy, harmony-heavy sounds of old guard bands like the Byrds. Malibu Spacey is Evan Jones, Zoran Lasich, Antony Tatangelo, Tim Clarke and James Howlett.
