Marcus is a songwriter based in Sydney (North) who specialises in country music. He also works in his landscape construction business and is married to Maree, with whom he has three children. Born and raised in Sydney, Marcus has strong ties to the Upper Hunter area of New South Wales where his parents and grandparents were from. This connection influenced his early exposure to country music. Marcus has expressed a lifelong affection for both the land and the music from this region. Influenced by the rock bands of the 1980s and 1990s, Marcus started songwriting and formed a rock band during high school. In the 2010s, Marcus noted that the country genre was evolving to align more closely with his own songwriting style, inspired by artists like Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, and Chris Stapleton. He began writing within this new era of country music while raising his family. By the end of 2019 and into 2020 Marcus made a decision to devote as much time as possible to songwriting, experimenting with demoing and pitching songs to artists in the United States and Australia. As the 2020s have seen artists like Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs gain mainstream popularity, Marcus's songs have resonated with this contemporary style of country songwriting, while maintaining an Australian essence also with a natural influence of his earlier years in rock music. After compiling a songwriting catalogue of songs over the last four/ five years, Marcus has decided to record and release an album featuring his best work, aiming to attract attention in the Australian country music scene. Teaming up with veteran guitarist and producer David Holmes, bassist Jeff Camilleri (Graeme Connors), drummer Mitch Farmer (Andrew Farris), and other studio talent, they have produced a unique and original album. The first single from the upcoming debut album is titled 'Sunshine'.
