Growing up on Yuin Country in South-Coast NSW, Matt Dixon has made a name for himself as a heavyweight session player on the Melbourne music scene. Dixon has played guitar and pedal steel at shows and in sessions with The Paper Kites, The Teskey Brothers, Rob Muinos, The Hunter Express, Emilee South, Hannah Cameron, Broads, James Kenyon, Luke Sinclair, and many more. Working on so many artists’ songs and visions left Dixon looking to find out what he would do with his own devices on a creative project; building his own songs as a voice for the guitar. The result in ‘On Olympic’ is a stunning debut that so poignantly captures both the vastness of the Australian landscape, as well as Australia’s difficult relationship to its identity on a world stage.
