Matt Hawkins is a Brisbane-based singer-songwriter, whose influences include Paul Kelly, The Lemonheads, The Simpletons, Shelley Short, Darren Hanlon, Robert Forster and others. Having played in Brisbane bands for some time, in late 2019, he decided to go it alone! "Bridge of Stories", a song inspired by Brisbane author Trent Dalton's debut novel, 'Boy Swallows Universe', was released early 2020. Matt's debut album, "Love, Loss and Washing Lines" was released in 2022, and in 2026, Matt's second LP, "cardigan", will be launched. "If I Could Dance", a song in which Matt again leans into his mediocrity, is the latest single from this forthcoming record.
