Beginning in a bedroom in Tokyo in 2016, MBFQ consisted of songwriting pair Gregory Tanaka and Sam Wilson - who built their sound based on in uences from Bon Iver, Frank Ocean, and James Blake. This culmination of in uences resulted in the group’s 2019 release No Autumn - an album that blended acoustic introspection with electronic experimentation. After Wilson moved to Adelaide in 2019, MBFQ started to reimagine their sound in order to bring an engaging show to live audiences. Recruiting Aden Quinn on bass, Isaac DeGregorio on keys, and Jachin Mee on drums, the band spent 2020 honing their grooves and arrangements to come into 2021 with a fresh, genre-defying live show. Their upcoming single Hammond St. is set to release mid April.
