McAlpine’s Fusiliers expand upon the traditions of Irish and Australian roots music to form an intoxicating brew of original music. Taking their name from the Dominic Behan song “McAlpine’s Fusiliers” that celebrates the trails and tribulations of migrant workers the band draws upon traditional sources such as The Dubliners and The Chieftains and combines them with more contemporary influences such as The Clash & AC/DC. McAlpine’s Fusiliers’ songs are honest accounts of love, loss, work, migration, drink’n till dawn and the odd jailbreak. Their music has been referred to as "Swaggie Punk". Their Do It Yourself attitude has won them a large loyal fan base that sees them constantly hitting the road to play. They self released their debut cd "Sons & Daughters of the Soil" in June 2007 which was recorded at Pan Studios Geelong with Producer Sally Laver. A musical journey that shows the bands commitment to continuing the social relevance of folk music and reverence for it influences.
