Mel was a founding member of Melbourne based Punk band Johnny Uppercut. After their successes, international tours and unfortunate end, she began taking to the stage on her own with a new blend of original acoustic rock. Not too long ago, deep in the crusty and frayed surroundings of a somewhat forgotten south side rehearsal room, Mel enlisted the 3D’s; Dave Robinson of Johnny Uppercut and Roussemoff, Drew Schapper of Artist Proof and Pretty City, and David Schenkel of The Big Fat Kill, to concoct a gritty pop of musical alchemy. Later hitting the studios to document the results, which were engineered and mixed by the mastermind Sam Lowe.
