Hailing from Sydney’s inner west, Memory Motel have steadily carved out a space for themselves in the city’s thriving indie scene with their ethereal dream rock sound. Fronted by lead singer Ruby Ward the band are known for crafting moody, intricate soundscapes, the five-piece weave lush melodies, reverb-soaked guitars, and introspective lyrics into a sonic tapestry that is both immersive and emotionally charged. Their debut EP earned them spins on Triple J, FBi, and 2SER, and landed them as a finalist in Happy Mag’s Needle in the Hay 2024 competition. With producer James Christowskis’ invaluable help; Memory Motel evolve their sound by fusing quirky, folksy acoustics with their signature cinematic lush, dream-drenched textures, before bursting into an all-out psych-rock jam that encapsulates both emotional intensity and sonic ambition.
