Mia Sifflet Mia lives in a place far removed from where she was born, New York. From New York to Newcastle, via Los Angeles for a few years in the middle. As such, there is a lot of room in Mia’s closet for an eclectic and varied range of influences… from Beyonce to Nina Simone, Michael Franti, Katy Perry to Chopin to Kanye. It helps to explain this songstress’ ability to render a broad palette of styles. Mia is an aspiring singer/songwriter and she is well on her way to making that happen. She recently wowed organisers, athlete's and spectators at the opening to the 2014 Lake Macquarie International Children’s Games opening ceremony with a monumental performance of the theme song, Never Give Up in the torrential rain. Mia worked the elements in her favour – the crowd ended up on their feet cheering during the downpour, with the thunder and lightning as her accompaniment. To add to this, Mia also composed the theme song, winning a competition to do so. The song was described as
