My name is Michel Birk. I am a Yeagl descendant of the Northern Rivers of NSW. A singer and songwriter. I have a small collection of songs of which I have great pride and enjoyment performing. I am passionate about performing the stories of my soul and my cultural background. Included in my small but developed collection of songs is one called “We Are But Guests Here” the lyrics co-written with my sister Jessica Birk; is an Acknowledgement of country. Coming from Northern NSW, I live on Guringai Country; aware that I am a guest here. This song is an important part of my musical and artistic practice. It tells of respect to the land, its people as well as to my ancestors. I perform regularly at community events within the Northern Sydney region and am thankful for the support and encouragement of the Aboriginal community of the Northern Beaches. Recently i have been Accompanied by a new member, Jake Berry, Writing many new songs.
