Mimi Gilbert grew up on an orange orchard in ojai, california. They discovered a love for writing songs as a 12 year old and would hide lyrics and notebooks around her parents property for fear of being found out. Mimi’s relationship to performing began at age 15 when they realised anonymous street performing away from her little hometown of Ojai would give them the freedom they needed to find their own voice. Mimi started busking on the streets and train stations along the west coast with her brother, an experience that deeply shaped their love for music and people. A proudly independent artist, she has spent the better part of the last 10 years living, touring and creating music in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
