Hailing from Elwood, Melbourne Minky Lush, AKA Carla Mitterlehner, is an artist who defies easy categorisation, drawing on a diverse and eclectic variety of influences from Pink Floyd to Courtney Barnett. At the core of Minky Lush's artistry is profound personal experience, with compositions that explore themes of trauma recovery and life's complex challenges. Music became Carla's essential medium for processing and transforming hardship into art. Her musical foundation began at age nine with classical piano and clarinet training, eventually evolving into poetic expression and broader artistic exploration. A pivotal moment came when she joined Wild At Heart Community Arts, where she developed the compelling collection of songs that would become her debut EP through Wild At Heart’s songwriting program. "I Am Here" represents a defining milestone in Minky Lush's artistic evolution—a raw, heartfelt collection that delves into trauma, self-empowerment, compassion, and advocacy. More than just music, the EP stands as a powerful declaration of presence and healing, marking the beginning of what promises to be a profound and transformative musical journey.
