Moontown are a swampy atmosfolk duo from Wollongong. Combining acoustic and electric guitar with vocals, moontown have cultivated a unique fusion of folk and blues. Seemingly without compromising on their musical sensibilities, they have developed a set identifiable for its sincerity and old-school non-commercial sound. On electric guitar, Greg Hughes continues his effects-driven derivative of blues and art rock, drawing from past experience with local bands Analogue Orphan and Golgotha Method. A die-hard David Gilmore fan along with influences such as the Brewster brothers, gomez, muse and the cruel sea, Greg tastefully combines his sound with his comrades acoustic dynamics. Coming from the singer/songwriter tangent, Rowan Galagher's acoustic and vocal performance invokes elements of Damien Rice, Leonard Cohen, Ani Difranco and Nick Drake. His folk sound is infused with rock undertones from years of gigging as a collaborative singer, songwriter and guitarist in local band Generic.
