The Mug landscape is filled with mechanical synthesisers and drum machines in combination with acoustic guitars, cello and field recordings. Eerie yet calming, Lily Harding’s voice weaves through each landscape like a hymn or holy recitation, unearthing powerful images in an unadorned reverie. Mug’s debut EP was primarily created remotely between Lily and Sam. Both were able to collaborate in solitude from their respective homes, and this and this inspired the dissection of certain themes such as connection, loss and personal restorative affirmations.
