My Ancestry, like all great things started off as a simple idea. An idea that would introduce a sound that was heavy and menacing but melodic and progressive to the local Tasmanian Metal Scene. Stephen Cusato being the founding member of My Ancestry, sought to build this idea into a full line up shortly after beginning at Rosny College in 2012. With the band already consisting of Hamish Newell on Vocals and Joe Cooper on Bass they wanted to find the remaining members from around the college so work on original material could begin and take its unique form. It was not long after that when Alex Jamieson was brought in to man the Drum kit. Currently working on their own original material, My Ancestry hope to bring to their audience more creative, dynamic and intense pieces of music, drawing from a broad range of musical influences by all the members combining thier own musical tastes to make something that goes in totally different direction to what other young metal bands in Tasmania
