Nat Leila serves up her most nostalgic offering yet, ‘Sugar Cereal’ Nat Leila is poised for greatness on her latest single ‘Sugar Cereal’, the Sydney/Eora songstress taking a trip down memory lane for a light-hearted bop about childhood and self-actualisation. Characterised by unfurling synths and vibrant melodics, the soundscape Leila crafts with co-writer Bobby Gray and producer Oscar Sharah of Mel Blue is one of enchanting levity, a sonic backdrop just perfect for her measured vocal utterances about how her upbringing has manifested in her adult life. Using the title ‘Sugar Cereal’ as a metaphor for her childhood, the ‘Marco Polo’ singer serves up plenty of intricate lines that roll off the tongue while striking a deeper meaning, most notably on “But that’s the reason why I’m rude/cause I’m not as sweet as you”. It's another stellar offering from the pop sensation, and there’s plenty more well on the way.
