What inspired me? For this album it was the songs of Waylon Jennings mixed with a Joe Cocker feel. I will always be encouraged by passion. I’m also a massive Bowie fan so it needed to be diverse in its approach to honour his influence. How do I write? 99% of the time the words and music come at exactly the same time. I never write anything down. If I can’t remember it the next day then why would anyone else? When I’m really in the zone writing, as strange as it sounds my mind is completely blank. It’s peaceful and feels quite spiritual when I’m channeling my influences. For this album NOTB I went with a country crossover feel. That kept me in a fantastic genre but also gave me freedom to dip my toe into rock, soul and even reggae. I am not a man of many rules but my rule #1 is the song is the BOSS. No one is above the song, and if you respect this rule while writing , the song will guide you to completion. From the UK to playing the Honkey Tonk bars of Alabama as well as festivals in Europe I sure have made some fantastic musical friends along the way. Now i call Australia home and I'm still making new friends. A world without music is no world at all. One Love Be Kind Nate Bentley
