Navarre began writing and recording original music back in 1990 at the age of 17 with a primitive Korg keyboard, a Yamaha drum machine and a tape deck. Originally studying classical piano, he soon grew bored with playing other people's music and decided his own sounded better. During this time, Navarre wrote a number of tracks that looking back have been described as being ahead of their time. Then Navarre set out seeking adventure and ended up becoming immersed in the nightclub scene and began bartending around Australia. This period of his life lasted almost 10 years and he lost his connection with his own music and nothing new was written. However, this time in his life exposed him to a decade of dance music and allowed him to observe what worked and went off on the dance floor. Then in 2003, Navarre became involved with an incredibly talented female singer by the name of Odette Avalon who had many years of original material under her belt.
