Formed in Kelowna British Columbia in 2019, neon violence is a culmination of genre mashups inspired by indie rock, house, and minimalistic sounds of the UK and Australian electronic scenes. Rohail Javed (Nottingham UK) & Sam De Sira (Adelaide SA) met in the early months of 2019 during their travels in Canada, forming a musical project now known as 'neon violence'. Due to the COVID pandemic, Rohail found himself back in the homeland of England, whilst Sam stayed in Canada to continue his journey abroad. The duo had written several tracks but now had the difficult task of navigating production in 2020 from different countries. Using the online realm for communication and transposing, including voice recordings on a phone to record vocals, the duo managed to create an ambient and unique indie sound despite not being in the same country together, let alone room. The result is a journey into an experimental electronic dreamscape, inspired by artists like Bonobo, Foals and Bloc Party.
