New Archetypes formed in Redfern, Sydney, in 2006 and spent several years tearing the Inner West a new one, terrifying venue owners and drawing a modest but solid following thanks to their unpredictable, volatile live shows, which drew heavily on the theatrical, high-intensity performances of The Birthday Party and The Stooges. Combining gritty, dark, often humorous lyrics, and an unrelenting, bone-powdering approach to noisy rock and roll, New Archetypes created a sound that is entirely their own. Now, after a three-year-plus hiatus necessitated by day jobs, breeding and efforts to maintain sanity, the boys are back and ready to take it to the next level. Kick out the jams, motherf**ker.
