New Lovers draw from a diverse array of artists, from the dark guitar poetry of Darkside, to the esoteric four to the floor of LCD Sound System and the arpeggiated minimalism of Steve Reich, the New Lovers music is both forward looking but also inspired by artists that have challenged the three and half minute pop tradition. All these people from different groups and worlds meld together. Owen’s a graphic designer, Nick Elias is an architect… Cody’s in a thousand bands. New Lovers is a coming together of all their artistic creations. New Lovers actually have sometimes tried to intentionally cut themselves off from what other music is going on, so we don’t take a lot of influence. They rehearse separate from everyone else and don't play that many gigs.
