After years of playing in bands such as Wilde Child and Figures, Nic Belor has finally taken the opportunity to write the material he has always wanted to. The debut full length, “Bestfriend”, is full of love, hope and contemplation. Hymns of self-awareness blissfully blended with the classic love tale are found throughout this record, which emerges from Belor’s desire to convey feeling and truth within a radio-friendly three minutes. “Bestfriend” dips in and out of psychedelic pop while maintaining a folk tonality; a strange combination on paper but once heard becomes quite a fitting title. Tipping his overly-worn polo cap toward the likes of Teenage Fan Club, Seals and Crofts, Mac Demarco and Elliott Smith, it’s not hard to draw comparisons with these artists however, he still allows space to create his own sound.
