Nicholas Lurwick is a perfectionist songwriter in a way that he doesn't care about flaws or mistakes but aims to capture the exact feeling he has in his head. His influences range from Bob Dylan to Marvin Gaye to Joe Walsh to Radiohead. The lyrics can be crude to lighthearted; singing about repressed sexuality and the death of a dog. The chords can be at times simple and folky but he's never afraid to experiment with structure. His most recent songs like I'm a Child in Your Eyes and A Handle on Love test out his abilities with alternate tunings, more intricate melodies and ungrounded concepts. Nick is always moving out of his comfort zone and if you were a fan with him from the beginning you'll know his first choice of genre for his early album was an indescribable Gothic type psychedelia. So, who knows where Nicholas Lurwick will go next.
