Nicole Stevens describes herself as a hopeful realist. Her lyrics are a paradoxical contrast between the shortcomings and the intense beauty that co-exist in this world. Nicole’s battle between down-trodden struggler and optimist is evidently reflected in her songwriting style. Having written songs about addiction, gambling, love, inner city development, childhood, self loathing and modern day society, Nicole says she will always have something to write about. “I enjoy the process of writing very much. Words & music just seem to come to me, often at odd moments. If I sit and write it out before I know it I’ve got an entire song".
