Matt’s unique, dreamy vocals and ambience filled guitars combined with Joshua Lindley’s often unconventional drum patterns continuously saw Oak Tree Suite compared to the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Holy Holy and Alt J. The additions of Steven Lukman’s blues influenced guitar melodies and Shane Tyler’s solid, driven bass lines gives Oak Tree Suite the distinctive edge that sets the band apart. The band makes the most of dynamics, which creates a mesmerizing atmosphere at their live shows. Well respected Jakarta-based radio presenter Arie Dagienkz remains puzzled by Oak Tree Suite’s ability to sound, “as big as Kings of Leon and then as intimate as Ed Sheeran in just a couple of seconds”.
