Edit history

Obsidian Monolith was started by Maurizio Piras in 2015, forming into performing band in late 2016. Since their debut, they have released “The Descent” EP in 2018, followed by a 10 track Album “Manifest” in March of 2019. Both releases features foundational members Axel Kilby on Vocals and Bryce Hubai on Bass. Obsidian Monolith has been playing live since 2017 in the Melbourne’s extreme metal circuit. The band is characterised by a dark and melancholic sound, followed by virtuoso shredding, heavy vocals, fast paced drumming and atmospheric orchestrations. The songs carry a message of negativity towards humanity in which nihilism is a main theme. With the release of Promise of Oblivion, it brings Obsidian Monolith back to a 5 piece Band with the addition of former Destroyer 666 and current Anatomy drummer Warren Vassallo and Dean Lushaj on rhythm guitar. Promise of Oblivion opens up the band to a more intricate and well defined Melodic Death sound.
