Octave Inc is the creation of saxophonist Michael Slater. An accomplished jazz saxophonist from Nashville, Tennessee, Slater’s sound has been described as a “sleazy saxophone ghost...taken straight from the Clarence Clemons songbook” (Mess+Noise). Most known for his work with Shining Bird, Ernest Ellis and studio project Rain King, Slater’s jazz quintet is the culmination of the variety in genres. The quintet can be described as a genre bending wall of sound, swaying in the direction of jazz fusion. They explore various areas of music, centering on free form jazz and pop. The band brings a killer sound to the stage – it’s alive and enthralling music. Never sounding the same way twice, Octave Inc’s music is an organic, evolving soundscape. In 2016, the band released their first recorded EP titled ‘Dancer’. In early 2018, Octave Inc released their second EP, ‘Flightpath of the Sky Queen’. The band recently wrapped their first Australian tour off the back of their debut album.
