What does the culmination of islander culture, jazz, and rock give? Well that is the question young trio ‘Ode to Lucille’ have been begging to answer. The band consisting of Nicholas Ta’avale (Vocals and Guitar), Luke Highfield (Guitar and Vocals) and Dominik Borzestowski (Percussion and Vocals) come from Newcastle and have big aspirations. Originally starting out as a two-piece side project of Nick and Luke’s, Dom was added to complete the trio. With the combination of melodic runs, acoustic critique and plentiful personality, this young outfit is the perfect recipe for a new and exciting asset to the music industry. With influences from bands such as Secondhand Serenade, Playjerise, Jack Johnson and The Kooks to jazz virtuosos such as Joe Pass, and rock bands such as Anberlin and Relient K, ‘Ode to Lucille’ begs to differ from stereotypical rock and blues outfits. They are definitely a band to look out for in the future.
