Singer-songwriter Oliver Downes blends intricate, percussive piano playing with instantly hummable melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. Packing ‘soaring melodies and sharp wit in equal measure’ (Tone Deaf), his music takes a leaf from artists such as Nick Cave, Kate Bush, Nils Frahm and Rufus Wainwright, to offer a lush fusion of dreamy ballads and instantly familiar chamber pop. Ably supported by the frenetic prowess of his band, expect a high-definition musical passage through the darkness into the light. His second album ‘The Wheel’ is due for release in March 2019.
