Violin isn’t something often associated with electronic music, but the work of Melbourne-based violinist Matt Sheers, who goes by Orcha will certainly challenge that assumption. The Creative Victoria grant recipient has been busily crafting a new body of work – experimental, immersive and full of intricate soundscapes that oscillate between acoustic and electronica. ORCHA’s new releases, while anchored in experimentation, are his most melodic work to date; fuelled by lush vocals and textured melodies, which unfurl into a universe entirely of his own making. ‘Reverie’, 'Depths' and 'Atlas' are the first tastes of what’s to come on his forthcoming album, slated for release later this year. The follow-up to his thrilling debut EP "Bodybound", and the culmination of two years writing and recording, the album explores different states of mind such as isolation, joy and grief. Working with producers James Cecil (Architecture In Helsinki), Luis Kennett (Luboku), Robert P. Downie (Hemm)
