"History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it" - Winston Churchill Hailing from Sydney, Papa Tear were formed in 2007 by MC’s Tristan Cardew and Seb Slater, along with Andrew Gower (a.k.a Gaz) who is responsible for the groundbreaking explosion of creativity behind Papa Tear’s unique sound. Initially starting out as a 3 piece textbook Australian hip hop act, Papa Tear went on to enlist a 4 piece live band to the ensemble. Stretching the boundaries, Gaz began to incorporate a variety of beats from house to dubstep and a plethora of samples in-between. In a postmodern apocalypse; Papa Tear would not be making music if it were not for such influences as the Hilltop Hoods. Inspired by the bands ability to turn their accent into its own genre, whilst making no apologies for this – Papa Tear have borrowed from this philosophy and have created songs that can be appreciated for their poignant lyricism, as well as the musical method that these messages are delivered to the listener.
