A portrait of the artists as a young band. Like an anatomical landmark, PAPERADIOs swinging hips gaze out like searchlights in a Thames flavoured city. Blue neon on the edge of a council flat, powerlines sticking into a pretty dusk, a candle in the bin. PAPERADIO talks endlessly about widescreen, big sky weather in a Sydney frame. Ben sings, plays guitar and keyboards and writes much better songs than Daft punk Ian plays guitar and wears tsubi Joel plays the drums, likes surfing and white white light. PAPERADIO have played music at all the usual venues in Sydney/London but listing them all is a bit silly. A much better idea is to describe them as young, smart and mercurial. Like a Chekov short story full of intrigue and verve yet not spelling out the final play. Its the energy that forces you to get off the fence, the casual references to The Triffids, the intensity of Transmission, the soul of Springsteen and the love of a Lennon melody. Its like Pentecost in a parking lot!
