Growing up in a musically curious household in the coastal town of Port Macquarie, Australia, 28-year-old Nigel Malcolm aka Paris Lights bathed in a rich tapestry of genres, from soul and funk to 60s psychedelic explorations to ambient and jazz ensembles. Training in piano from an early age, their own creative spark ignited in the instrumental realm of hip hop production, as a contemporary experience of jazz and rap. There always remained a desire to translate these intricate rhythms and stories into a captivating performance experience, using loops and performance to tell the stories so meticulously created in the recording studio. Their debut and sophomore album releases, 2022's 'Club Nautico' and 2023's 'Majestic 2202', showcase how their creative compass points enthusiastically towards the innovative percussion production styles of Madlib, Alfa Mist and DJ Muggs, amongst others. Their recent 2024 release "PARIS LIGHTS RADIO" is a foray into the world of electronic dance and house.
