PATAMON are an electronic avant pop duo, comprising of vocalist and fashion designer Alix Higgins and producer, musician Joan Banoit. Launching in March 2021 with the release of their debut single NEW ISLAND, through Sydney label Lazy Thinking, the track is co produced by label mate and rising underground producer Wytchings, with additional production from Jim Flanagan and mixing/mastering by sonic wunderkind KCIN. After returning from Paris to launch his fashion label, Alix met Joan and they began creating a sonic fantasy world together. Laced with duo’s highly idiosyncratic brand of visual poetry, their first tracks (to be released in quick succession in 2021) reference Fairies, Pokémon, the natural world, Heartbreak, Friendship and Queer Identity. Patamon’s sound leans heavily on pop and dance influences, while sharing a similar indifference to their traditional structures and conventions as fellow contemporary iconoclasts SOPHIE, Serpentwithfeet, FKA Twigs and Bladee.
