PAXY - the moniker of Naarm musician Bridget Leila - melds pop sensibilities within introspective lyricism, leaving behind an aftertaste reminiscent of an earthy red wine and a vogue cigarette. Her alternative blues and soul inspired sound is rooted in a stage presence that is equal parts gospel and anthem. Coaxing the audience with shameless submissions of late-night honesty and a razor-sharp tongue, her subtly orchestrated melancholy cuts through the heart of it, prying open a few rib cages in the process. Softened by her vulnerability and inimitable timbre, she holds a proverbial mirror up to herself as a reminder that she can be both hard and soft, but different sides to the same coin.
