Penny W-K is back with new music after taking a 4-year hiatus following the breakup of her band Houndsteeth in 2013. After a 2 year “working holiday” in Fremantle, W-K returned to her native Melbourne in 2016 and began working on new music under her own name. Holiday on Traffic Island is a 4 track EP with a sweeping mood shift, bookended by the two singles from the EP. It was recorded in the summer of 2017 while W-K was recovering from an iron deficiency. The dreamy, lo-fi offering has been described as ‘dirty DIY bedroom guitar pop’ by engineer Michael Savage. Opening track Party Moderately was the first single from the EP and serves as a response to Andrew WK’s 2001 hit Party Hard. It’s a whimsical dancey pop track for the people up the back taking a nap. W-K’s new single Everyone Wants to be Right is a dirty and dreamy number about being into someone you know is bad for you. Mastered by Fremantle’s indie pop darling Michael Savage, the song is layered with rich guitar textures
