Ever tried mixing Greek Rembetika, North Indian and jazz traditions? I think not! Add funk, African, hip-hop and huge slabs of dirty, sweaty, big-hair rock. Stir. Now things are getting very interesting! Pete & Fiete are an unusual, classically-trained duo with a penchant for Frank Zappa and the Pixies and, like many of Australia's best musicians, have been feeling the pull towards Melbourne. Currently Canberra-based, the versatile, multi-instrumental duo have recently become frustrated with the limited opportunities afforded to original songwriters in Australia's capital. But that's not to say they haven't been creative with the gigs they've played - Pete & Fiete have accompanied traditional dancers at the Egyptian Embassy and played at the National Gallery.
