Peter is a Veteran who was lucky enough to grow up with lots of Irish music in his home, so music was sort of in his DNA. Now after many years of singing & performing, he’s turning his hand to writing ballads himself. To date, together with his Duo partner Den, he has written & released 2 albums of country-folk ballads. In his latest release he honours our Veterans with a solo EP titled “Mates – Four Songs for a Soldier”. The first ballad, “Gallipoli”, came out of a moving dawn service he attended at Yaraka in the Outer Barcoo region of Western Queensland. “Parade” makes the simple point that the only thing soldiers ever want is to be appreciated for doing what their nation asked of them. “Troop Train” seeks to capture the first blossoming of romance as departing soldiers leave lovers behind. “Waler” honours the courageous horses that carried our Australian Light Horsemen in WWI at the Battle of Beersheba.
