Poetry Lounge formed in late 2005 with the simple aim of writing and performing music that moved and inspired people. Drawing on songs written by guitarist Paul Kew and singer Latiesha Boucher, the group began performing shows in its hometown of Perth during 2006 and quickly established a loyal following. Their sound can best be described as a combination of melodic rock, pop and folk underscored by a moving sentimentality that gives their songs a heartfelt, emotional resonance. In late 2006, the band went in to the recording studio to start work on their debut EP, Leap from Heights. Due for release in May, the recording perfectly captures the band’s ability to effortlessly swing between emotional highs and lows through their music.
