Program Error is the alias of Queensland Conservatorium Graduate, Michael Simms. Originally the name and concept for Program Error came about when a homebuilt Win 98 PC used to make music often displayed the erroneous "Blue Screen of Death" as a result of a crash, causing any music being made during this to "glitch" on a continuous loop (often long enough to constitute a one or two bar phrase of music). Through trial and "error", this "glitch" (originally) became the foundation for a Minimalistic/Trance solo music project.

The idea of "Program Error" was influenced by the occurance michael had in his home studio where his PC crashed during the making of a track. The audio would sometimes loop in perfect time during such technological failures. if the loop during the crash sounded cool, the track would be developed (in a minimalist fashion) based on what the worn-out, primative PC was telling mick
