Rachel Dillon was raised in the north west of Sydney, between the Blue Mountains and the headwaters of the Hawkesbury River. Her father would take the family on long treks into the mountains in search of aboriginal rock art. Rachel’s mum was a keen butterfly collector and unrealised activist. Rachel's grandparents were orchardists and when the chores were done Rachel was allowed to ride Kate the clydesdale bareback. As soon as she had three chords on the guitar, Rachel started writing songs to sing around the campfire. Friends convinced her to record some songs and the EP, “Long Distance”. Rachel’s songs are stories inspired by real people and places; the lyrics and imagery draw you in and compel you to follow down dark trails and lonesome highways. Influences include Woody Guthrie, Billy Bragg, John Prine, Guy Clark, Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, Pigram Brothers, Kasey Chambers and of course Bob Dylan.
