Racoo's style falls somewhere between decrepit folk and sad girl country. Her songs often describe the puzzle of somebody’s existence; smoking, lamenting love, ruminating minds, sitting in sadness and 24 hour bottle shops. There is an obsession with sentimentality, the absurdity of detachment, breakups, and grief. Her live performance is complemented by likeminded dreamers; James Dolin on guitar, a local gardener and keen meteorologist; Duncan Strachan, who plays in millions of bands and manages a bar, on bass; Jason Snook, a free-wheeling bird photographer on drums, with sister Francesca Hocking on backing vocals, Thea Woodward on flute, and Peter Bibby on rhythm guitar. (As well as ever evolving guests and collaborators.) Racoo have recently supported Pond, Peter Bibby, Joni and the Moon, and have been festival favourites at Fairbridge, Nannup and Camp Doogs. Her most Recent album I Fell Asleep for Half the Day is available on Spotify and Bandcamp.
