INGREDIENTS Take a background of early 90s church chorus music, blended with an education in contemporary music, an unashamed love of trashy pop a’ la Backstreet Boys and a firm respect for jazz songstresses Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and the like. Add a few years of classical vocal training, a few years of training with a gospel singer from Chicago, and a lifetime of singing in whichever choir needed a mezzo soprano at the time. Throw in a love of literature and a tendency towards thinking a lot and then writing it all down. And last of all a big dollop of FUN. METHOD Throw all ingredients together and leave to steep for a few years in sleepy coastal city of Perth (a creative melting pot for indie musos, just on the quiet . . .). Collaborations with Aussie musos Jeff Strong (www.jeffstrong.net) and ex-Tall Tales and True front man (and now local producer) Matt De La Hunty will bring together contrasting flavours of pop sensibility and offbeat ramblings.
