Red Rascal rocked into existence in 2004 with nothing more in mind than getting onto a stage and making some noise ASAP. Original line-up was home D, Rani, and Ross on guitar, bass and drums respectively. All members are veterans of the Adelaide music scene and previous projects both together and separately include (in no particular order): Luminous Green Snow, Slaughtered Daughters, Lumpsucker, Tardis Retardis, Peter Brady's Volcano, Queer Looking Rooster, Mesh and tons of others. Early in 2006, Red Rascal upgraded to all-femme status with the replacement of male drummer Ross with lady MiShell on skins, which also saw some alteration in the band's style, given MiShells' tendency to rolling syncopation. Musically, Red Rascal is hard to pin down - there is an overall punk feel, with overtones of old-school metal and experimental bits here and there (some rapping, some use of unusual time signatures etc).
