Regan McVeigh hails from Perth, Western Australia. He is a passionate husband and father, who has an unquenchable love of music. Regan is a firm believer that the right song at the right time can have a powerful influence over one’s state of being. With music playing a significant role in Regan’s childhood, and formative years especially, he was determined to be able to return the favour, or pay it forward if you will, to those who may need it. Endeavouring to write music and words that reach people, his latest music revolves around the theme of jamais vu. A French word which translates to ‘never seen,’ in psychology meaning a situation that one knows they have experienced yet seems unfamiliar. Within the blurred lines of the familiar and unfamiliar, Regan has written songs that incorporate and build on the musical influences that have either helped him through adversity, inspired him, or simply just made him feel something. After many years of playing in Perth’s hard-rock scene, his solo work is a departure, more refined and easier listening, leaning into the folk genre. Beginning with violin lessons from the age of 5, Regan went on to learn the guitar. Through the years he has managed to transfer this musical knowledge to other instruments such as the piano, and double bass, which can be heard on his latest EP. Lyrically the songs are neither political nor commentary. Regan draws on past experiences to form his lyrics, and due to their sensitive nature hides their true, deeper meaning and details cryptically, thereby hoping his words and music become thought and feel provoking, allowing the audience to form their own meanings. Regan aims to build a sense of connection to his audience, by translating topics that have affected him through-out his life, through his music.
